A Democrat in the Massachusetts state legislature introduced a bill this week that would criminalize the use of the word “bitch,” much to the chagrin of those Americans who enjoy the First Amendment.

“A person who uses the word ‘bitch’ directed at another person to accost, annoy, degrade or demean the other person shall be considered to be a disorderly person in violation of this section, and shall be subject to the penalties…” the bill says. ” A violation of this subsection may be reported by the person to whom the offensive language was directed at or by any witness to such incident.”

The bill was introduced by Rep. Daniel J. Hunt, who represents the state’s 13th District of Suffolk.

In plain, the bill seeks to criminalize the use of the word “bitch” as disorderly conduct. The Boston Herald reported punishments for disorderly conduct convictions in Massachusetts. Using “the B word” once will cost you some cash. If you dare use it a second time, the state could toss you in jail for half a year.

“Penalties for a disorderly conduct conviction include a $150 fine for a first offense and $200 or 6 months in prison for subsequent offenses,” the paper said.

This site has been warning about the totalitarian left implementing speech restrictions for years. If you follow our work, you know that we chronicle nearly every case of leftist Silicon Valley overlords banning internet users, mostly conservatives from their social networks – the 21st century public square – under the guise of “terms of service” violations. Brazen support for censorship of speech is now, and has been throughout history, a leftist trait.

But this bill even surprised us. This is not a legally-murky gray area where a private company is making the rules and exercising punishment for breaking those rules. This is a direct assault on the First Amendment of the Constitution, and there are very few restrictions to the First Amendment, granted to American citizens by God and protected by government. That sacred right to say and think whatever you’d like apparently does not matter to Hunt. He’s on a mission to protect his constituents from that evil “B word,” just like the rest of the political left is on a mission to police what you Americans can say, and ultimately what they can think, Constitution be damned. This is the next level of authoritarianism, and the inevitable logical end to previous exercises in censorship by leftists.

The good news is this: at least one legal scholar isn’t buying it.

“There’s a certain category of legislation that’s patently unconstitutional. This is among them,” Harvey Silverglate, a civil rights attorney, reportedly told The Boston Herald. “This is just the latest futile effort but [sic] the word police to control what other people say and indirectly control what they think.”

Silverglate unleashed on Hunt for even introducing the bill.

“If it’s challenged in court, it will take minutes for a judge to see through it,” Silverglate said. “It doesn’t have a prayer of surviving, so why should the Legislature even burden us — the citizens, the press and the courts — why would they burden us with this nonsense? Surely they must have more important things to do.”
