The Democrats are officially out of control, rising to a new level of authoritarianism previously unseen in modern American history.
In today’s episode of seizing power by any means necessary, freshman Muslim Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) told a crowd that the party was devising a plan to arrest officials who are part of President Donald J. Trump’s administration.
“So let me tell you – and this is the last caucus conversation we had – do you know this is really unprecedented?” Tlaib said. “This is the first time we’ve ever had a situation like this.”
“So [the Democrats] are trying to figure out – no joke – they’re trying to figure out, well, is it the D.C. police that goes and gets [Trump officials]?” she continued. “Where do we hold them? This is the kind of – like I’m not in those kinds of conversations but I’m asking, like ‘What happens?’, and they’re like ‘Well, Rashida, we’re trying to figure it out ourselves because this is uncharted territory.'”
According to Free Beacon, Tlaib was speaking to constituents in Detroit at the “Congress, Coffee, and Conversation” event on Tuesday. The Trump officials in question are reportedly his cabinet officials.
“I’m telling you that they’re trying to be like ‘well, where are we gonna put them?'” she said. “No, I mean those are the kinds of things – they’re trying to tread carefully. I mean, this is – I’m like you all – I asked the same questions. ‘Well, what happens when they don’t comply?'”
Tlaib was noticeably giggling as she openly discussed a coup against a sitting, duly elected president. That’s where the Democrats are at right now. As a thorough reporter, I feel that this is the correct time to remind you that neither Trump, nor any of his cabinet members, have been charged, tried, or convicted of any crimes. In fact, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has not taken any steps past announcing that the House would open an impeachment inquiry into Trump. Tlaib is literally discussing plans to overthrow Trump’s administration.
At the risk of editorializing, this is insane. Such rhetoric would have been grounds for public shunning just three years ago. Now, it’s perfectly normal discourse from elected Democrats.
“The fact of the matter is we held [Attorney General Bill] Barr and Secretary [Wilbur] Ross from Commerce – the Secretary of Commerce – in contempt,” she said. “Well what happens if they don’t continue to not comply [sic]? And everybody’s looking at each other like, ‘We haven’t had this ever happen before.’ So I just want you to know I will relay your message. I will tell them they can hold all of those people right here in Detroit. We’ll take care of them and make sure they show up to the Committee hearings. We won’t hurt them. We’ll make sure they show up.”
As a matter of fact, cabinet members have previously been held in contempt. Tlaib must have forgotten about former President Barack H. Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder, who was held in contempt after refusing to testify about the Fast & Furious scandal. He was never punished for his actions, and certainly wasn’t kidnapped and taken to Detroit by an insane member of Congress.
Perhaps this is how governance works in HAMAS-controlled Gaza, from where Tlaib’s family originates. But it’s certainly not how governance works in the United States of America.
Far-left authoritarianism has become the feature, not the bug of the Democrat Party, as I wrote Wednesday. As the Ukraine hoax begins to fail, just like the Russian Hoax did, the party is beginning to scramble in an attempt to salvage any chance at winning the presidency in 2020. The strategy for that appears to be to move as far-left as possible.
