Just hours after four GOP senators penned a letter demanding Facebook rescind its decision to flag Live Action’s content as “false” based on the analysis of two abortionists, the monopolist social media giant doubled down it’s censorship of the leading pro-life organization.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg defied the requests of Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Kevin Cramer(R-ND), Mike Braun (R-IN) to condemn his company’s erroneous warnings about the pro-life organization and then warned Live Action its fan page “violated” their community standards, Live Action president Lila Rose revealed.
“In possible retaliation against a letter from US Senators to Mark Zuckerberg, @Facebook just sent ANOTHER alert to thousands of our followers saying @LiveAction’s content is “false” – using the ‘fact check’ by two abortionists,” Rose tweeted Wednesday. “They also added a ‘violation’ to our page.”
Facebook’s egregious censorship of conservatives should not be subsidized by American taxpayers, Sen. Josh Hawley warned.
“Just hours after I and @sentedcruz @senkevincramer @senatorbraun sent a letter to Facebook about allowing abortion activists to “fact check” pro-life group @liveaction, Facebook doubled down & censored them AGAIN,” he tweeted. “I don’t understand why American taxpayers are subsidizing this censorship.”
“This is deeply concerning and the very reason I, @HawleyMO, and so many members of Congress are working to stop Big Tech from arbitrarily silencing conservative voices,” Cruz added.
In August, Live Action received a warning from Facebook notifying the organization that two of its videos were given a “false rating.” One video featured Rose and a board certified neonatal-perinatal medicine specialist explaining that abortion is never medically necessary.
In addition to issuing the “false” rating, Facebook disabled Rose and Live Action’s ability to advertise and cautioned users who shared the video they had disseminated “false news.”
Publicists for Live Action told media outlets that the pro-life group had been “silenced” by Facebook on Aug. 30.
The four Republican senators sent a letter to Zuckerberg Wednesday morning, blasting Facebook for its notorious “pattern of censorship” against conservatives.
The “fact check” was administered by two abortion providers who are also affiliated with pro-abortion activist organizations – Daniel Grossman, who “sits on the board of NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation,”and Robyn Shickler, “Fellow with the pro-abortion advocacy group Physicians for Reproductive Health,” the senators pointed out in their letter to Zuckerberg.
“This is a widely-held view, one shared by the thousands of members of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians & Gynecologists [AAPLOG], among others,” the letter states. “As a result of the “false” rating, Facebook suppressed Live Action’s website and Lila Rose’s Facebook Page, prohibited the organization from advertising and promoting its content, and notified users who had shared the videos that they had shared ‘false news’.”
“No reasonable person would describe Grossman or Schickler as neutral or objective when it comes to the issue of abortion, yet Facebook relied on their rating to suppress and censor a pro-life organization with more than 3 million followers.”
The senators called on Facebook to remove restrictions placed on Live Action and Rose and submit to “an external audit.”
“Your company, like Twitter, Google, Pinterest and so many other major Silicon Valley social media firms, has been repeatedly confronted with evidence of bias against those with conservative viewpoints, especially on the issue of abortion. And in response you have repeatedly insisted that these numerous incidents of discrimination, censorship, and suppression of speech are merely glitches, not evidence of systemic bias,” the letter continued. “The only thing more astonishing than your claim to nonpartisanship is your complete failure to back that claim with proof.”
Unlike the first interim report released in August by a Facebook-commissioned audit team, the audit “should be real and meaningful, not like last month’s ‘audit’ that was nothing more than a summary of complaints against Facebook and its responses,” the senators concluded.
In June, the investigative organization Project Veritas obtained internal documents from a Pinterest whistleblower confirming the social media platform censors pro-life and Christian content and even blacklisted Live Action by categorizing the organization’s content as “pornography.”
LiveAction.org is on Pinterest’s “porn domain block list,” a category of pornographic websites that Pinterest has compiled to prevent porn from being disseminated on the platform, the Pinterest insider revealed.
Project Veritas confirmed during its examination of Pinterest that LiveAction.org is censored and included on a “porn site block list on the platform.
The platform has also created a “sensitive terms” list in which the term “Bible verses” is considered “brand unsafe.”
