Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez acknowledged the 18th anniversary of 9/11 by retweeting a video showing lawmakers taking a moment of silence for the victims.

But just a few months ago, the socialist “Squad” member warned images of the 9/11 attacks are “triggering,” racist, and Islamophobic.

In April, Ocasio-Cortez rushed to the defense of fellow freshman Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar, after the Muslim lawmaker ignited backlash for describing 9/11 as a day in which “some people did something” at a private fundraiser for the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

“CAIR was founded after 9/11, because they recognize that some people did something, and then all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” Omar said while raising funds for CAIR, an Islamic activist group created by the Muslim Brotherhood with ties to the terror group Hamas. “You can’t just say that today someone is looking at me strange, that I am going to try to make myself look pleasant. You have to say that person is looking at me strange, I am not comfortable with it. I am going to talk to them and ask them why.”

Following Omar’s remarks, the New York Post blasted Omar for downplaying the terror attack, publishing a front-page photo of the Twin Towers bursting into flames.

“Here’s your something,” the Post’s headline read, “2,977 people dead by terrorism.”

Ocasio-Cortez swiftly shot back against criticism of Omar, warning the Post’s front page photo of the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center is triggering and was only published to incite violence against Omar, Muslims, and people of color.

“Printing on the front page, to circulate all around New York City an image that is incredibly upsetting and triggering for New Yorkers that were actually there – that were actually in the radius, that woke up one morning, or were in their schools and didn’t know if they were going to see their parents at the end of the day,” she lamented. “To elicit such an image for such a transparently and politically motivated attack on Ilhan—we are getting to a level where this is an incitement of violence against progressive women of color.

“If they can’t figure out how to get it back to policy, we need to call it out for what it is because this is not normal and this is not a normal level of political debate or rhetoric. As wild as it can get sometimes, this is something beyond what is normal.”

Ocasio-Cortez and Omar, along with Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley, who call themselves the “Squad,” were rebuked by 9/11 memorial speaker, Nic Haros, on Wednesday.

Wearing a shirt with Omar’s notorious quote, “Some people did something,” the speaker exclaimed, “Today I am here to respond to you exactly who did what to whom.”

“We know who and what was done. There is no uncertainty about that. Why your confusion?” he asked. “On that day, 19 Islamic terrorists, members of Al Qaeda, killed over 3,000 people and caused billions in dollars of economic damage. Is that clear?”

“But as to whom? I was attacked. Your relatives and friends were attacked. Our Constitutional freedoms were attacked, and our nation’s founding on Judeo-Christian principles were attacked. That’s what some people did. Got that now?” he continued.

Haros then pleaded with the “Squad” to put their radical rhetoric aside and honor the thousands of Americans who lost their lives at the hands of radical jihadists.

“We are here today, Congresswoman, to tell you and the ‘Squad’ just who did what to whom. Show respect in honoring them, please,” he said.
