The love life of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), which could be made into a daytime soap opera, became even more complicated Tuesday as the Minnesota Congresswoman was accused of stealing a 55-year-old D.C. woman’s husband.
“Dr. Beth Mynett says her cheating spouse, Tim Mynett, told her in April that he was having an affair with the Somali-born US representative — and that he even made a ‘shocking declaration of love’ for the Minnesota congresswoman before he ditched his wife, alleges the filing, submitted in DC Superior Court on Tuesday,” The New York Post said.
Credit where it’s due, Omar seems to be assimilating better now that she lives in Washington, D.C. Mynett said that she and her soon-to-be ex-husband have a 13-year-old child together.
She stands accused of marrying her own brother Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in an immigration fraud scheme, which was technically her second marriage. Her first marriage was to Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her children. Marriage documents suggest she was married to both at the same time. She divorced Elmi in her “faith tradition” in 2011, and legally in 2016. Omar is in the process of divorcing Hirsi – meaning that she was having her alleged affair with Mynett while she was still married to Hirsi. She and Hirsi have been married twice, making the divorce her third.
“The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar,” according to the court documents.
“Defendant met Rep. Omar while working for her,” the documents reported said. “Although devastated by the betrayal and deceit that preceded his abrupt declaration, Plaintiff told Defendant that she loved him, and was willing to fight for the marriage.”
But Mr. Mynett was too smitten with Omar to continue.
“Defendant, however, told her that was not an option for him.” according to the report. He moved out of their home the next day.
But the story is even deeper. Mynett’s firm, E. Street Group, is a consultant for Omar. She has reportedly paid the firm $230,000 since her 2018 election for “fundraising consulting, digital communications, internet advertising and travel expenses.”
She was seen dining at a swanky restaurant with Mynett in Playa Del Rey in Los Angeles last month.
