The Clarion Ledger reported on Thursday that 270 of the 680 people arrested during the largest single-state immigration raid in US history were released the same day.

U.S. attorney for ICE and the Southern District of Mississippi, Mike Hurst, explained in a press release on Thursday that approximately 30 people detained Wednesday during the ICE raid were released the same day.

The press release went on to state that ICE agents “made cell phones available” to those who were detained so arrangements for their children could be made.

In addition, ICE spokesman Bryan Cox said in an email that if single parents with minor children at home were detained during the raid they were released on “humanitarian grounds” the same day. If both parents were detained, one was released to be with their children.
