A review of campaign records reveals Rep. Rashida Talib (D-MI) received a lofty donation while running for Congress from a Palestinian man who died a decade ago.

The deceased man, George S. Farah Sr., was a real estate developer who emigrated to the United States from Palestine in the mid-1950s, the Free Beacon reports. Farah reportedly passed away on Feb. 1, 2009 from heart failure.

Yet, on June 22, Tlab’s campaign received a $2,500 donation from Farah, according to Federal Election Commission filings. Confirming the contribution was made from the deceased man, the address provided to Tlaib’s campaign committee is identical to the address of Farah’s residence on public records. Grand Blanc Township property records also show Farah owned property located at the same address written on the donation to Tlaib’s campaign.

Contributing campaign donations in the name of another individual is prohibited by federal law. The maximum penalty for knowingly and willingly making illegal campaign contributions in the name of another is “five years in prison and a fine of not less than 300 percent of the amount involved in the violation and not more than the greater of $50,000 or 1,000 percent of the amount involved in the violation,” according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Tlaib isn’t the only Democrat to receive campaign donations from Farah after his death.

Rep. Dan Kildee (D-MI) was given $1400 from Farah between 2011 and 2017. Farah did not contribute donations to any federal politicians prior to his passing.

A USA TODAY study of Federal Election Commission filings found that a total of $586,000 were donated to political campaigns and parties from deceased individuals from Jan. 2009 to Aug. 2013.

Tlaib garnered national attention just hours after getting sworn into Congress in January after she declared the newly installed Democratic majority in the House will “go in there and impeach the mother—er.”

“When your son looks at you and says, ‘Momma look, you won, bullies don’t win,’ and I said ‘Baby they don’t,’ because we’re going to go in there and we’re gonna impeach the motherf—-er,” Tlaib told a crowd of anti-Trump, leftists after taking office.
