Elijah Cummings Himself Called Baltimore ‘Infested’ — 20 Years Ago

The Democrat Party and the establishment media are claiming President Trump is a racist after the president pointed out the decrepit, dilapidated conditions of Rep. Elijah Cummings’ (D-MD) Baltimore district.

But the Maryland congressman has used the same language, verbatim, to describe his district.

The president on Monday called Cummings a “racist” and argued the Democrat lawmaker is to blame for Baltimore being a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”

“If racist Cummings would focus more of his energy on helping the good people of his district, and Baltimore itself, perhaps progress could be made in fixing the mess,” Trump tweeted. “His radical ‘oversight’ is a joke.”

Following Trump’s comments, the word “infestation” suddenly became synonymous with racism among Democrats who unanimously claimed the president’’s criticism of Cummings is predicated on bigotry.

Yet, footage from a 1999 congressional hearing features Cummings himself using the word “infested” to describe Baltimore.

The video also highlights CNN insinuating Trump is dehumanizing black Americans for using the word “infested” to describe Baltimore.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders also claimed is Trump racist and “attacks American cities,” following the president’s criticism of Cummings.

However, in 2015 Sanders likened Cummings’ West Baltimore district to a “Third World Country.”

“Anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood would not think you’re in a wealthy nation. You would think that you were in a Third World country,” Sanders said during a tour of the city.

Sanders also bemoaned in 2016 about Baltimore’s “poorest boroughs,” arguing residents of the district have “lifespans shorter than people living under dictatorship in North Korea.”
