According to one of the journalists who has worked to prove that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) married her brother in an apparent fraudulent immigration scam, alleged reporter Will Sommer of The Daily Beast is attempting to dox the whistleblower who originally came forward with the allegations of Omar’s sham marriage.
“It seems [Will Sommer] of [The Daily Beast], [Mother Jones] and Rep Noor (60B) are trying *to dox a Somali whistleblower* who in 2016 revealed [Omar’s] fraud,” David Steinberg said on Twitter. “Without qualms, they seem to be working with a source *who is making explicitly violent threats to the whistleblower.*
Months ago, Steinberg produced several documents showing that Omar’s marriage was a fraud in a Twitter thread that went viral, adding to Laura Loomer’s reporting from last year, and Powerline Blog’s reporting from 2016.
Sommer is infamous for doxing people whom he views as political enemies, and for having a hideously ugly wife. He doxed meme maker CarpeDonktum for, well, making memes that President Donald J. Trump shared, and a random pastry chef at Mar-a-Lago who believed in Q-Anon.
“The source seems to be posting threats and interactions w/ [Will Sommer] and other media on a Somali message board the past few days,” Steinberg continued. “I’m informing law enforcement. These outlets believe they are authoritative. That a story isn’t ‘verified’ until they cover it.”
“That independent media couldn’t possibly develop a city’s worth of sources to monitor even the MN Somali community message boards, so bad actors like [Will Sommer] can’t terrorize whistleblowers,” he continued.
Steinberg then posted links to the archived messaging boards with the alleged threats from Sommer.
We reached out to Sommer for a comment, but he blocked me on Twitter like a coward, and Loomer is banned because people like Sommer didn’t like her Tweets. Sommer didn’t reply to Loomer’s text.
