WASHINGTON –Former Vice President Joe Biden, whose presidential campaign is plagued by his history of praising notorious segregationist Democrats, doubled down Monday on Democratic claims of President Trump being a racist.
ABC’s News asked Biden to respond to a tweet in which Trump wrote, “I don’t have a racist bone in my body!”
Trump’s tweet came after the Democrat party unanimously claimed he is racist for declaring anti-American lawmakers who constantly complain about the United States should leave.
If Trump says he doesn’t have a racist bone in his body, Biden shot back, “that means he has no bones.”
The House of Representatives passed a resolution Tuesday evening that explicitly condemned so-called “racist” language from the president with 240-187 vote.
Four Republicans sided with Democrats– Reps. Will Hurd (R-TX), Susan Brooks (R-IN), Fred Upton (R-MI), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). Former Republican Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI) – now an independent – sided with Democrats as well:
Amid the Democrat outrage, the president shot back, “I don’t have a racist bone in my body!”
Trump on Monday drew the ire of Democrats, who are famous for playing the race card, when he blasted progressive lawmakers who constantly claim the United States and its laws are unjust.
“If you’re not happy here, then you can leave. As far as I’m concerned, if you hate our country, if you’re not happy here, you can leave, and that’s what I say all the time,” Trump said during a Made in America event at the White House. “If you’re not happy in the U.S., if you’re complaining all the time, very simply, you can leave. You can leave right now. Come back if you want. Don’t come back. It’s okay too, but if you’re not happy, you can leave.”
Trump mentioned by name Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), the first Somali-American elected to Congress, who fled Somalia with her family because of a civil war and spent years in a refugee camp in Kenya
“I mean I look at the one. I look at Omar. I don’t know. I never met her. I hear the way she talks about al Qaeda. Al Qaeda has killed many Americans. She said you can hold your chest out – when I think of al Qaeda, I can hold my chest out,” Trump recounted.
As Democrats distort Trump’s comments as being race-related, Biden, who leads the Democratic presidential field, is fanning the flames of his segregationist-praising record.
Biden, who has stated segregation is better for ‘black pride,’ lied during the first Democratic presidential debate about his stance on busing to desegregate public schools.
As Politico reported, the former vice president supported a measure sponsored by the late Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.), a former Klansmen, that prohibited the use of federal funds to transport students beyond the closest school to their homes.
Biden’s 1977 comments resurfaced on Monday in which Biden said non-“orderly” racial integration policies would cause his children to “grow up in a racial jungle.”
In the remarks, first reported by The New York Times, Biden emphasized wanting to “ensure we do have orderly integration of society,” noting that he was “not just talking about education but all of society.”
“Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point. We have got to make some move on this.”
In June, Biden praised segregationists that he served with in the Senate Democrat Conference for their “civility.” Touting his bipartisan credentials during a fundraiser in New York, he cited his history of working with two of the Senate’s arch segregationists, the late-Sens. James Eastland (D-MS) and Herman Talmadge (D-GA).
“I was in a caucus with James O. Eastland,” Biden told donors, attempting a Southern drawl. “He never called me boy, he always called me son.”
“Well guess what?” he continued. “At least there was some civility. We got things done. We didn’t agree on much of anything. We got things done. We got it finished. But today you look at the other side and you’re the enemy. Not the opposition, the enemy. We don’t talk to each other anymore.”
