President Donald Trump vowed Tuesday he will direct his administration to investigate whether Google is nefariously colluding with the Chinese government and compromising U.S. national security.
His pledge to probe the monopolist tech giant comes after billionaire and Facebook board member Peter Theil warns the company is a threat to American national security and may even have committed treason.
“Billionaire Tech Investor Peter Thiel believes Google should be investigated for treason. He accuses Google of working with the Chinese Government.” the president tweeted Monday.
“A great and brilliant guy who knows this subject better than anyone!” he added of Thiel. “The Trump Administration will take a look!”
Google has drawn a lot of scrutiny, and not in a good way, for biasing search results against conservatives, artificially promoting leftists and leftwing causes, and smearing and blacklisting conservatives.
In 2018, Google bosses reportedly forced employees to delete a confidential memo circulating inside the company that revealed explosive details about a plan to launch a censored search engine, codenamed Dragonfly, in China.
The Google engineer who authored the memo disclosed that the search system would require users to log in to perform searches, track their location – and share the resulting history with a Chinese partner who would have “unilateral access” to the data.
Speaking at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington on Sunday, Theil warned Google may have been infiltrated by Chinese intelligence, ought to be subject to immediate investigation by the FBI and the CIA.
The CIA and the FBI need to ask the search engine giant three questions, Theil insisted.
“Number one, how many foreign intelligence agencies have infiltrated your Manhattan Project for AI (artificial intelligence)?” asked Thiel. “Number two, does Google’s senior management consider itself to have been thoroughly infiltrated by Chinese intelligence?”
“Number three,” he continued, “is it because they consider themselves to be so thoroughly infiltrated that they have engaged in the seemingly treasonous decision to work with the Chinese military and not with the US military.”
In an interview with Fox News Monday, Theil doubled down on his accusations against Google, warning the tech giant is weaponizing artificial intelligence.
“Artificial intelligence is something that people talk about non-stop in Silicon Valley, but they almost never talk about its dual use – if its real. If this is a real thing it can also be used by the military, it will be weaponized in all sorts of ways and its an important national security question as to who has it,” he told Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
“There is this very peculiar background where Google is working with the Chinese communist government and not with the Us military,” he continued. “The Project Maven decision was a decision a decision not to work with the AI with the U.S. military – but they’re working with the Communist Chinese.”
While the president pledges to investigate Google, Project Veritas revealed irrefutable proof last month that Google is manipulating its products and search engine to ensure Trump and anyone like Trump wins future elections.
The investigative watchdog spoke anonymously to a Google insider who alleged Google’s top priority is to assure politicians like Trump never get elected.
The election of Trump ignited a dramatic shift among Google’s executives, prompting the company to abandoned its early commitment to foster self-expression and “giving everyone a voice” and become dedicated to censor “hate,” the insider warns.
Project Veritas’ expose of Google also featured undercover footage of Google executive Jen Genai, Head of Responsible Innovation, Global Affairs at Google, admitting the company is using its algorithms to tamper to prevent Trump’s reelection.
